If Guido is correct...

that the Conservatives are planning to have tax man snitches in everyone's bank accounts, Grex will start making plans to relocate.

If the Tories pull this stupid stunt many people - human behaviour being what it is - will start running as much of their business in cash as possible and using barter to obtain goods and services. Not that Grex thinks this is entirely a bad thing. The economy that surrounds our allotments is a model of unregulated social enterprise which knits the community together and means you rarely leave without something to plant or put in the pot.

But, along with the devastation of manufacturing under Labour, all this will do is help inch Britain back towards the status of a developing country.

The idea of a Conservative government is, surely, to keep your nose out of our affairs, cut government in size and scope and simplify the tax system and tax take so that we are content to pay our fair share rather being being bent over the table as we are at present by Labour.

Speaking of which THE TEETH! THE TEETH OMG THE TEETH!

John Redwood MP

talks sense about the Redcar Corus steel plant which starts the 'mothballing' process today. For that read closure and the site being levelled and turned into housing and more out of town shopping sheds.

Good luck cleaning that site up: driving through it to get to South Gare it is like driving through some post-apocalyptic sci-fi set.

The Grex is a local and over thirty years has seen heavy industry leave Teesside and little come in to replace it. How to get economic basket cases like Teesside moving again will be one of the huge challenges facing the (Grex bets) incoming Conservative government.

Grex recommends they just nick the Lib Dem plans to raise the tax threshold, give everyone working in the black economy a one-off chance to register and go legit no questions asked and make it easier, much easier to run a business. John and I are signing - singing, not miming - off the same hymn sheet on this one.
